2. Learn to shake off your emotions
Having a shackle over emotions is an art. And people can learn this.
Some people don’t feel emotions at all, some feel it but only for a little time. While for some its overwhelming but nothing shows up on their face. And then there are those you see crying and shouting.
These people can switch to the controlled group with little control. Whenever the tides of emotions swell up your chest, you put a nozzle to it. Here are a few tips that can come in handy:
- If the emotions are too strong, then rush to the bathroom and do some deep breathing.
- Move to a corner and stomp your feet on the ground.
- Try clenching and releasing your palms.

3. Control your breath to control your life
Studies prove Pranayama is one of the best medicines for anxiety and stress.
It also works well in depression.
Since sensitive people worry a lot and get upset quite often. Though these emotions are not worrisome, anxiety or anger might take over. And then it becomes difficult to control a fountain of emotions.
And bringing calm in a moment of the storm is easier said than done.
- Experts say to try Pranayama for self-control.
- It is very effective as a quick remedy to anger and anxiety.
- So, whenever you feel anxious or angry, take quick, shallow breaths.
- You take slow shallow breaths when you sleep, so this signals your brain to relax and ease the negative thoughts. It triggers a sense of calm and eases the tension immediately.

4. Release the negative emotions
Feeling emotions is not a problem!
Neither is getting high on positive feelings.
But the trouble is when negative emotions cloud the mind.
And it’s very important to release the toxic emotions out just like you take out all other toxins. A few simple tricks up your sleeve are sure to help.
Experts recommend getting the emotional energy out with exercise.
To vent out the emotions, go for a walk, run, or engage in some physical activity.
Such activities release serotonin which makes you feel better. However, experts suggest avoiding expressions of anger like punching the walls or screaming. This is of no help. It just intensifies your emotions.
Shouting, screaming, or punching multiplies the feelings of anger. They reinforce your emotions as they make you feel good as the result of being angry. Hence, avoid such activities to live free of your emotions.

5. Think it through
Whether you are a highly sensitive person or a no-emotion person, everyone should think it through.
This is the mantra that comes in handy for all critical situations.
Always ask yourself a few important questions.
“Will this person matter to me in any way?”
“How important is this person or the situation?”
“Am I going to allow this person to mar my peace of mind?”
Reasoning allows the thinking to shift focus and calms you down.
Highly sensitive people need to think it through for their own sake.
Rational thinking bursts the cloud of a dark gloomy cloud.
Take Away!
Being highly sensitive is perfectly fine!
But what’s not fine is not being aware of your emotional state or not acknowledging it for some social taboo.
And it’s nothing to do with gender.
Men just like women can be sensitive too.
Earlier they had to bury their sensitivity under the false pretense of machoism. Some are still suffering from this. Women were always called weak for their emotional sensitivity. And that’s why even women today shy away from accepting their emotions.
But hear it from the doctors and experts.
Feeling emotional is absolutely perfect and highly sensitive people are perfectly normal.
Just remember these 5 things highly sensitive people must do for good emotional health.
