But my wife loves it for a completely different reason. 

Coffee also has amazing benefits for the skin. From reversing age to removing scars, coffee can work wonders in skincare. It’s a lesser-known but super effective remedy for acne and cellulite. 

Beauticians are calling it an all-in-one skincare agent. Coffee makes a great mask, scrub or paste that has skin lightening and whitening benefits. It’s natural, effective, free of side effects and works better than most expensive skincare products.

In my previous blogs on coffee, I already said that drinking coffee offers photo-ageing benefits. But applying it topically can help with the sunspots, redness and fine lines. 

In addition, coffee tightens your skin. Promotes blood circulation. Reduces swelling and puffing. It also prevents sagging and cellulite that comes with age. 

You can make coffee ice cubes and rub it over the affected area or use it as an anti-ageing face mask.

  • Mix powdered coffee with a spoon of olive oil and sugar.

How to use coffee for curing dark circles?

  • Make a paste by blending coffee and olive oil.
  • Gently pat the paste underneath the eyes but don’t rub or scrub.
  • Leave it for five to ten minutes.
  • Rinse off with warm water or wipe it with a soft cloth.
  • Repeat it regularly.

Sun protection

Topical application of coffee has sun-protective benefits.

Yes, coffee can be your most effective sunscreen. 

Coffee exhibits a sunscreen effect. It prevents sunburn and UV-damage.

Research shows that caffeine can inhibit the DNA damage caused by UV rays. A study found that topical application of coffee half an hour before sun exposure can significantly reduce the damage caused by sun rays.

How to use coffee for sun protection?

  • Add coffee powder to cold water.
  • Soak a soft cloth in the water and gently dab it on your face. 
  • Do it before stepping out in the sun.
  • Repeat it several times to reduce redness and swelling.

Coffee for Skin Brightening

  • Mix coffee with milk to get a thick consistency.

How to use coffee in skincare?

DIY Skin Rejuvenating Mask 

  • Take 3 spoons of coffee and mix it with a few spoons of milk.
  • Add a spoon of honey and mix it to get a thick consistency. 
  • Use this mixture as a face pack for 10-15 minutes.
  • Wash it off with lukewarm water. 

DIY Face Scrub

  • Make a natural scrub by mixing coffee, brown sugar, and olive oil. 
  • Massage it on your face and neck in circular motions. 
  • Let it sit for five minutes then rinse well with warm water.

DIY Body Scrub

  • Mix 2 tsp of coffee with 2 tsp of sugar and few drops of olive or coconut oil. 
  • Apply the mixture and massage gently in circular motions.
  • Rinse it off. 
  • You can follow this routine on daily basis, depending on your skin type.

DIY Lip Scrub

  • Take 1 tablespoon of coffee 
  • Mix it with 2 drops of coconut oil 
  • Massage it for 2 minutes.
  • Rinse it with warm water.

Exfoliating Foot Scrub

  • Mix 1/4 cup each of coffee with Epsom salts, and olive oil. 
  • Scrub your feet with this mix. 
  • It exfoliates the dead skin and removes the stuck dirt. 
  • Use it daily in foot care.
