What Types of Patients Seek Ayurvedic Treatment for Sexual Disorders? Exploring the Variety at the Clinic

Ayurveda has long been a go-to source for those seeking solutions for sexual health issues. Its natural approach and lack of side effects make it a popular choice for those looking to enhance their sexual experiences or overcome dysfunction.

Patients may visit Ayurvedic practitioners for a variety of reasons, such as seeking aphrodisiacs or treatments for sexual dysfunction. Some may be experiencing problems related to conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, stress, stroke, aging, or side effects from other medications. Others may be seeking help for guilt related to infidelity.

Whatever the reason, Ayurveda can provide a safe and effective way to address sexual health concerns, promote overall well-being, and enhance intimacy and pleasure.

Identifying  chronic patients

It is common for individuals to seek help from Ayurvedic practitioners after trying a variety of other options. They may have previously tried over-the-counter drugs, searched for information online, sought advice from friends, or experimented with unconventional methods. However, consulting a doctor is not typically their first choice.

The reluctance to seek help from Medical practitioners is often a result of cultural taboos and myths surrounding sexual health. In Indian culture, discussing one’s sexual life and intimate issues is not considered a norm, which leads to patients taking a long time to open up and seek help. They may provide irrelevant information about physical symptoms such as backache, joint pain, and headaches before revealing their true concerns. These patients may exhibit passive behavior, speak in hushed tones, avoid eye contact, and display erratic behavior.

Another reason for hesitation is the fear of exploitation by quacks who prey on vulnerable patients, branding them weak and charging exorbitant prices for costly medicines and false promises.

The newly married couples

A young married couple seeks help from an Ayurvedic clinic to address issues related to procreation sex. Procreation sex refers to sexual intimacy with the goal of having children and continuing the family line. These patients may feel pressure from their family or loved ones to have children and may experience symptoms such as anxiety, nervousness, shame, hesitation, and fear. Some men may struggle with performance anxiety, premature ejaculation, or difficulty in consummating the marriage. Infertility, both primary and secondary, is also a common issue among patients. Women may face challenges such as disinterest in sex, fear of sex, fear of pain, difficulty in adjusting, depression, and anxiety.

Treatment for these patients should include counseling, education on sexual positions, use of lubricants or condoms, emphasis on foreplay, medication to alleviate anxiety, support from the spouse, and establishing a deeper connection between the couple. It is important to handle these cases with patience and understanding.

Pre-marital sex problems

It is not uncommon to encounter patients who are engaging in premarital sexual relationships. These patients are often young individuals who may have misconceptions or limited knowledge about sexual behavior. Misconceptions such as the idea that orgasms can last for 30 minutes or that a real man can have sex multiple times a day can negatively impact their self-confidence. This group of patients typically includes college students or young couples in relationships.

It is crucial to educate young people about healthy sexual behavior for their mental and physical well-being. They may turn to pills like Viagra or other aphrodisiacs without understanding the potential effects and side effects. Providing education, counseling, and accurate information can help address these patients’ concerns.

Long-distance sex problems

Pair maintenance sex refers to the practice of maintaining a strong bond between partners in a long-distance relationship by engaging in sexual activity when they are reunited. This can include using aphrodisiacs to enhance the sexual experience and increase intensity. Some couples may choose to meet every few months to rekindle their excitement and maintain the connection in their relationship. It is important to note that while some individuals may believe that women prefer longer and rougher sexual experiences, this is not always the case and individual preferences vary. Additionally, some women may seek out aphrodisiacs for their partners to use during their next meeting.

The self-Sex

Some men who are not in a committed relationship may visit Ayurvedic clinics with concerns about their masturbation habits. They may worry that excessive masturbation will negatively impact their future sexual experiences. Some may even be addicted to the practice and experience physical symptoms such as weakness, weight loss, and fatigue. These concerns may be rooted in psychological factors. Another group of patients who visit the clinic is those who experience nocturnal emissions or premature ejaculation. These individuals may find it difficult to control their sexual response during partnered sexual activities.

The Experimental Sex

The missionary position, while traditional, can become monotonous and lack excitement over time. Some individuals may turn to pornography to add stimulation, while others may engage in dangerous sexual behaviors, leading to injuries or sexually transmitted infections. Some may seek excitement through extramarital affairs, especially during a mid-life crisis. These patients often present with feelings of guilt and shame. It is important for healthcare professionals to provide appropriate counseling and guidance to help them regain balance and positivity in their sexual lives.

Self-rewarding sex

These cases involve individuals who engage in excessive sexual activity, which can be physically and emotionally draining. This can lead to an imbalance in their daily lives and an obsession with sexual pleasure. They may use various stimulants or seek new drugs to enhance their sexual experiences. Some may also be influenced by peer pressure or societal expectations, leading to feelings of inadequacy and depression. They may seek treatment in the form of aphrodisiacs or Ayurvedic medicines.

Professional Sex

This group includes individuals who engage in sexual activities in exchange for money, such as sex workers, escorts, and call girls. They are not commonly seen in clinics, but some high-profile individuals may seek treatment for issues such as chronic fatigue and guilt. Sex workers are at high risk for contracting sexually transmitted infections, and it is common for them to seek treatment for recurrent urinary tract infections and other STIs in clinics. Additionally, individuals who engage in sexual encounters with sex workers, such as bachelor men or even married men, are also at risk for contracting STIs like genital herpes, HIV, and other diseases.

Tranquillizing Sex

Sex can release hormones and help to calm stressed nerves, making it a beneficial activity for individuals with insomnia who have difficulty falling asleep due to an overactive mind. Educating partners of insomniacs about the soothing effects of sex can be an effective approach. Furthermore, incorporating sexual activity into the routine can also improve the relationship and strengthen the bond between partners.

Status sex

This phenomenon is prevalent among the upper class. They often use sexual behavior as a means of asserting dominance or control. These individuals often seek out expensive, gold-based aphrodisiacs as a means of satisfying their egos. In many cases, this group includes wealthy individuals who visit high-end escorts.

Restoring Mental and Physical Well-being for Individuals Affected by Sexual Wellness

Individuals with sexual issues often require more than just medication. The topic of sex is often shrouded in taboo, making it difficult for many to fully understand the complexities of sexual dynamics. Common questions such as frequency, timing, and technique can cause confusion but many are too embarrassed to ask for clarification. Proper education, counseling, addressing underlying beliefs, appropriate medication, reassurance, and building confidence are all crucial in addressing these concerns.

Conclusion

Sex therapy is a type of counseling that aims to help couples who are experiencing difficulties in their sexual relationship. This treatment addresses common issues such as misconceptions and myths about sex and helps couples to overcome fears and pain. Behavioral treatments focus on addressing harmful behaviors and techniques, such as self-stimulation, for problems with arousal and orgasm, particularly for young people and those with experimental attitudes toward sex. Psychotherapy addresses past sexual trauma, anxiety, guilt, and body image issues that may be impacting current sexual function. Education and communication can also play a key role in helping individuals overcome anxieties and improve their sexual performance by providing accurate knowledge and understanding of sex, human nature, and capabilities.
