9 Simple Ways to Make Your Boring Walk Interesting: Tips to Boost Your Mood and Get More Out of Your Exercise Routine

Much has been said about the endless benefits endowed by a quick walk of 30 minutes. It not just helps you shed some kilos, but also improves your heart health, prevent diabetes, obesity, blood pressure. But that’s not all. Walking in the woods also relaxes your brain and feeds your creativity. So, in this blog, I bring you 9 easy tips to make your boring walk interesting!

I often recommend my patients, friends and people I know to go for a walk at least 30 minutes a day. And more often than not, I get the common response that walking is boring, they would rather go for an exciting match of tennis or badminton.

A bit of my heart used to break every time I get this response. Personally, I love walking alone reflecting on my journey, my life, on the abundance, happiness and people around me. But most people of this digital frenzy generation lack that kind of a connection with self.

Hence, I delved deeper into the subject and sorted some of the creative ways to turn the simple walking routine into fun and exciting.

9 Easy tips to make your boring walk interesting

1. Make A Playlist

The best way to beat boredom is to tune into some super cool music. Create a playlist comprising of your favourite songs or sort the songs according to your mood and carry your headphones along. Also, just remember that you are getting two benefits here – walk therapy and music therapy!

2. Count the camera in

Many people look for a motive in the things they do. As such walking without a motive might seem mundane. But carrying your camera and clicking some amazing wonders of nature might just change your entire perception of the walk.

3. Beat the clock every day

If you are a competitive person then you can use a stopwatch to calculate the time you took to cover the distance and then focus on getting faster every day!

4. Put your explorer hat on

Walking the same lane every day might seem boring. So, change your course and keep exploring new places. You can take your bike, scooter or car to a new place and then walk that neighbourhood. It’s always amazing to discover new locations.

5. Take your pet along

Its true that pets make the best companion. Take them along for a brisk walk, watch their joy and curiosity in their eyes and make your boring routine a fun-filled adventure.

6. Focus on breathing

Try breathing exercises as you walk. One exercise for 3 to 5 minutes and soon your 30 minutes will be over. This is again a double benefit combo. Walking relaxes your body and slow breathing calms your nerves. This is one of the best shields against diseases.

7. Take a friend along

If you feel uncomfortable in the silence of loneliness then ask your spouse, child, siblings or friends to accompany you on your morning walk. Talk to them, share a laugh and start the day with the right vibe. Just make sure that the person accompanying you is full of zest and positivity.

8. Think and reflect

Carry a diary along and stop at a favourite spot to think and reflect how life has unfolded for you. Though everything might not have happened according to you but everything that happened has treated you better in some way or another.

9. Reward yourself

Rewarding is the best kind of motivation for humans. So, reward yourself with your favourite food or buy the things you wanted. Lure yourself with rewards and walk the healthy route!

Conclusion

Make walking your habit until it becomes a lifestyle. It’s high time that you need to stand up for your health before it knocks you down with diseases! Don’t let the everyday stress, tension, worries or pollution erode your health, insulate your energy and protect your body by following the right routine.

Happy Walking! Happy Healing!

Impressive article. But as you suggested earlier im the article, I use walking time to open up the creative mind. Lots of innovative thoughts come when I walk. And I get motivated and pumped up.
Once in a while I listen to useful podcasts.

An interesting discussion is worth comment. I think that you should write more on this topic, it might not be a taboo subject but generally people are not enough to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers
