A New Year signifies a fresh start. For some, it means new achievements. Others make a promise to work hard. While for most, the list includes setting health goals! 

New Year rings the bell of resolutions!

But New Year’s resolutions often fade with the fading of their newness.

Especially the resolutions of fitness. The wellness resolutions are restrictive. And living life with boundaries is no fun!

So, here are 10 amazing pieces of wisdom from Ayurveda that will make you stick to your New Year Resolutions. 

1. Wait!!! No dieting, please!

If you have added dieting to your New Year’s resolution list then stop right there!!!

Dieting does not result in weight loss. Eating smart does.

2. Whole Food feels so good

Abs and waists are made in the kitchen!

Diet is the best way to walk on a healthy path. Vegetables, fruits, seeds, and nuts are very beneficial to the body.

Research shows that eating whole foods reduces heart risk and body weight. 

Have it in your breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Fill in your snack time with delicious sprouts and peas.

3. New Year Resolutions: Upgrade your cooking skills

Cooking might not be your hobby, but it is your existential necessity.

Whether you are a girl or a boy, learning the basic skills of getting the meal ready is crucial!

In fact, a study found that those who ate 5 or more home-cooked meals per week were 28% less likely to be overweight. As compared with those who ate fewer than 3 home-cooked meals per week.

It’s true that Zomato, Swiggy, and Uber Eats are there, but eating out every day is not fair! This hurts your stomach and your pocket. Also, home-cooked food offers the best value in nutrition.

4. New Year Resolutions: Switch sugar for jaggery

By now you must know that the white crystals are sinister! 

But quitting sugar completely makes life bland and tasteless. Especially for those with a sweet tooth. The best way to keep the sugar-less new year resolution is by switching sugar with jaggery.

Jaggery has many medicinal benefits. It is rich in minerals, iron, and vitamins.

Unlike sugar, it does not cause premature ageing. It removes toxins and prevents ageing. Jaggery is a great antioxidant and immune booster. Plus, Jaggery helps in weight loss!

5. New Year Resolutions: Drop the drinks

Carbonated drinks are full of calories.

They are linked to an increased risk of obesity and heart disease. And alcohol as we know is completely sinister.

It is responsible for fatty liver, heart disease, and insulin resistance. So, if not completely cut it, drop it one glass at a time!

6.Sit less and move more

Modern-day jobs have chained us to the chairs. This very soon binds us to the bed. Sitting too much not just hurts the back. It causes issues of indigestion, obesity, and many other disorders!

So, make a pledge to move more and sit less. It is easy, simple, and attainable. With one step at a time, you walk towards a healthier you!

7. Sweat it out!

Choose a workout that best suits your mood and routine.

If you can’t make it to the gym then do it at your home. Home is not an option then go for a jog. If you are not a morning person then do it in the evening or at night! No matter where, when, and how you do it, just do it!

Practice yoga and pranayama. Skip and squat. Swim or dance. Do your stretches and your lunges. Do some push-ups and planks too. Check out easy workout videos from youtube and follow the workout every day!

8. Sweep into a deep sleep

Sleep is the secret to being beautiful and healthy. Lack of sleep leads to several complications. From skin issues and acne to weight gain and depression, sleep deprivation is the reason! 

So, make sure to get your 8-hour beauty sleep to wake up with a spring of energy. Limit your screen time. Adjust the light. Cut back on caffeine. Set the room. Take a warm bath. Practice Foot massage. Listen to soothing music. And maintain your sleep routine! 

9.“Me time” is prime

Sneak in some little moments of self-indulgence. Me time is very essential for self-reflection, self-love, and self-improvement. It is the time to connect with yourself, do things that make you happy.

Read a book. Sip some coffee. Do the dance. Sing it out. Go for a walk. Meditate. Bring the salon home. Splurge in shopping. Enjoy the sunrise or the sunset. Feel the breeze. Let the moment freeze.  

10. Preach Positivity

Last but not least! Positivity is that rare frame of spectacle that makes everything look brighter. It reduces stress and improves overall health. Positivity also improves performance, confidence, and contentment. It is a foundation for strong relations.

Practice gratitude. Perform Prayers. Say your affirmations. Trust your decisions. Smile often. Laugh loud. Live life every moment!
