The happiness curriculum

Times have changed, competition has paced!

Childhood today is not as blissful as it was a few decades ago.

Our parents and grandparents grew up in a world that was more pious and less polluted. It was times when children were carefree and free-spirited.

But today the pressure is soaring both on the kids and the parents. And that’s straining their childhood!

Peer pressure. Parent’s pressure. Exam pressure. Digital pressure. All these make life tough for the little kids.

That’s why Delhi Education Minister, Mr. Manish Sisodia has introduced this initiative to help the students cope up.

Bringing in a happiness curriculum is expected to help students learn to relieve stress. To understand the real treasures of life. Realize that problems are temporary and so is a success. Rise beyond the trivialities. Learn the way to manifest a life they want.

How does happiness class work?

The Happiness Class starts with rubbing the hands and putting them on the eyes. This is a relaxation technique used since ancient ages.

Relaxation is followed by meditation. This makes them alert of all the sounds from their surroundings. The energy is aligned to be at peace. The mind is set to calm and body relaxed.

They then engage in productive discussions. In this kids exchange their own ideas about anything and everything. The 45 minutes class pass with happy faces all around.

Scope of the happiness curriculum

The new “happiness curriculum” is focused on instilling habits that bring happiness. It includes – Meditation. Value education. Mental education. Moral values. The curriculum is based on activities and no formal examinations are conducted.

The Happiness Curriculum is designed benefit from the happiness-health connection. It envisions to:

  • Instil self-awareness.
  • Improve the cognitive ability of the students.
  • Stimulate good mental health, character and resilience.
  • Reduce anxiety, depression and intolerance among students.
  • Face challenges and find a solution to social issues.
