Turmeric contains an active element called Curcumin.

About 3-5% of turmeric is curcumin, the main life-saving element.

It’s curcumin that endows the magical healing properties of turmeric.

Ayurveda has hailed the use of turmeric from the kitchen rack to the first-aid box.

And now researchers too are believing in the miraculous power of the golden spice.

But can turmeric be effective against COVID-19? Well, some researchers say ‘Yes’. They have a valid reason to say so!

Current Research on Anti-viral Properties of Turmeric

Curcumin has an impressive history of being an effective element in controlling viruses. Researchers from Wuhan studied the preventive properties of turmeric against COVID-19. And the results are promising!

In this study, Researchers treated experimental cells with different concentrations of curcumin. Then they infected the pre-treated cells with TGEV. The study revealed that higher amounts of curcumin were able to decrease the number of virus particles present in the cell culture.

Thus, this study from Wuhan indicated that curcumin could have a preventive impact on the virus. It can inactivate the live virus and destroy it before it infects the cells. Researchers concluded that curcumin shows positive signs to be a component in the COVID prophylaxis.

This is not the first study to report the anti-viral properties of Turmeric.

Another study quoted that curcumin could help eliminate certain viruses. NCBI published a review on the Antibacterial, Antiviral, and Antifungal Activity of Curcumin. The study concluded that curcumin exhibits extensive anti-viral effects against different viral pathogens.

This makes curcumin derivates a potent antiviral drug component!

Another study reported the Anti-infective Properties of the Golden Spice Curcumin. This study too concluded curcumin is effective against bacteria and viruses in humans. Plus, it is not toxic even at high oral dosage.

This makes turmeric a safe and effective contender to consider.
