Benefits of using Ghee in your skincare routine

With all the salons shut and shops locked, one thing that has bugged us all during this lockdown is skincare. Men or women, young or old, the skin needs to be tended to with care. That’s why I bring you this blog telling you everything you need to know about ‘Ghee in Skincare‘.

I have been receiving tons of messages from my friends and patients asking for DIY skincare tips that are easy, effective, and available at all times. Something that suits all skin types and that can be used by people of all ages.

Well, the choices were many, but Ghee topped my list!

Ghee in skincare: An Ayurvedic Doctor’s recommendation

I am not the only Ayurvedic doctor recommending ghee in skincare. This goldmine of nutrients has been suggested for skin and hair care by Ayurvedic seers. In fact, Ayurveda refers to this golden nectar as ‘Amrita’.

The great Ayurvedic Acharya “Charaka” quoted that Ghee is the finest of all fats. It has around 1000 potentialities. If used appropriately as recommended, ghee exerts 1000 types of actions. It is a Rasayana, a moisturizer, a healer, and a protector.

The moisturizing properties of ghee are well-known. But do you know ghee is also an excellent skin-care treatment for oily skin? This organic ingredient also makes an amazing ingredient in hair care regime. 

5 Reasons to use Ghee in skincare

1. It’s a Super Moisturiser

Ghee is rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins that multiply hydration in the skin cells. Chock-full of fatty acids and butyrate, help to fight dryness, fine lines, and irritation. It is also known to treat skin peeling, rashes, and dehydrated skin issues. Plus, this wondrous moisturizer absorbs quickly in the skin leaving it smooth and supple.

Ghee as a moisturizer: How to use it?

Massage your skin with lukewarm ghee every day. For oily skin, add 3-4 drops of lemon juice in ghee and massage the blend over your skin.

2. A miraculous beautifier

Ghee has rejuvenating and anti-oxidizing actions that fight the early signs of aging like wrinkles and fine lines. This makes it one of the most effective anti-aging solutions. It also works wonders in removing eye bags and dark circles.

Ghee for beautification: How to use?

For dark under eyes, massage a bit of ghee around your eyes in a circular motion and wake up to beautiful bright eyes. For anti-aging benefits make your own Ghee Pack by mixing besan or Haldi.

Rub a little ghee on your lips, knees, heels, and feet before bed. You can also use ghee as a lotion on your hands and cuticles. Rub your hands every night before leaving the kitchen.

Ghee has natural anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-septic actions that work best on burns, wounds, and infections. 

How to use it?

Mix a little bit of ghee with turmeric and apply it like an ointment over the injured area. 

5. A skin-lightening agent

Ghee is a natural skin-lightening agent that you can pick against your night cream. It lightens pigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, and dark circles. Apply it overnight every day and witness your skin transform. 

How to use ghee in body massage?

Mix ghee with a few drops of rose essential oil and massage it all over your skin before bed.

Points to take note of:

  • Ghee can stain clothes. 
  • If you are not comfortable sleeping in your body dipped in ghee then use it before bath. Take warm ghee and massage your body for 3-5 minutes before your bath. 
  • Ghee is also an amazing natural ingredient for hair care. It removes dandruff, controls hair fall, prevents greying, and repairs split ends, and frizzles. 
  • Ghee is a magical potion but you need to apply it regularly for over a time. 
  • Use pure desi cow ghee for the best results.

Wow.. I was delighted after going through your blog . You have fixed all the problem’s from skin to hair with one simple ingredient that is ghee.we end up using different creams for different issues of skin spending thousands of rs on cosmetics.
