Before starting with the routine, it is important to create the right relaxing mood for the spa. Light your scented candles and play soft soothing music. This will help in relieving your stress and amplify your experience of a home spa.
Steps for At-Home Spa Treatment
1. Cleanse
The first step to your DIY at-home spa is cleansing. This helps remove any make-up, lotion, dirt or dust stuck to your skin and prepares it for a relaxing session. Using an oil-based cleanser helps lift the excess sebum, clean out the clogged pores like whiteheads and blackheads, remove dead skin and pollutants.
Apply the oil-based cleanser on your face and neck and massage gently. Rinse it with warm water or wipe off the oil with a warm washcloth. The most commonly used DIY cleansing oils are olive oil and castor oil. It is helpful in reducing acne and balancing oil production. For dry skin, coconut oil works great!
2. Exfoliation
Once you are done with your soothing skin cleansing routine, it’s time for exfoliation. It helps remove the outermost layers of your skin cells and prepares your skin for nourishment. In addition to that regular exfoliation helps the occurrence decrease clogged pores. This further aids in reducing acne flare-ups and promotes collagen production.
For exfoliation, make small circular motions using your fingertips. You can make a natural DIY exfoliation pack with one cup sugar, half cup olive oil, and one tsp honey. Add a dash of lemon juice and scrub your face for 2 minutes with gentle strokes. Wash off with cold water.

Steaming for 3 to 4 minutes can also help prevent acne breakouts, reduce redness and inflammation. However, it’s important not to overdo it. Don’t use steaming more than twice a week and don’t do it for over 10 minutes.
4. Mask
A compatible mask for your skin will help fight a list of skin issues. Be it dehydration, dullness, sensitivity, breakouts, even fine lines, and sun damage, a good mask will help to solve these issues.
Vitamin C is great for oily skin whereas, vitamin B5 works wonders on dry skin. Masks tighten the pores and give the skin the nutrient it deserves to stay healthy. Clay-based masks or fuller-earth masks are simple and easy to apply masks. Apply it evenly and keep it on for 10-15 minutes, and then wash off with a warm cloth or water.
