Acne is caused by overactive oil glands in the skin and a build-up of oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria, which leads to inflammation in pores.

1. Green Tea

Tea works wonders in skincare. Green tea has great anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidizing properties. This helps in soothing your irritated skin and reduces the inflammation of acne lesions. 

How to use it?

Dip a green tea bag in hot water. Let it cool and wash your face with this water. You can also apply this water to your face with a cotton ball. Let it soak for some time and wash it away.

2. Honey

Apply a teaspoon of honey over the acne and leave it on for 30 minutes. Wash off gently with warm water.

How to use Fuller’s Earth for acne?

Make a paste by blending multani mitti with rose water. Apply the paste evenly on your skin. Let it dry for 10-15 minutes and then wash off with cold water.

7. Neem 

Neem is another excellent remedy for acne-prone skin. Using neem water as a skin toner regularly ensures clean and clear skin. Its antibacterial properties combat acne reduces scars and fights pigmentation.

How to use neem for acne breakouts?

Boil about 20 neem leaves in half a litre of water. Wait till the leaves become soft and the water turns green. Strain the water and store it in a bottle. If you have got acne on the body then bath with this water and if the stubborn zits are on your face then apply this water with a cotton ball. Wipe your face with clean water and a towel.

  • Keeping your face clean is essential. Wash it every time you step home from outside. But don’t overdo it.
  • Remember to wash your face after exercising as sweat tends to clog your pores.
  • Make sure to use products that are noncomedogenic or non-acnegenic.
  • Keep your hair products away from your skin.
  • Avoid wearing tight clothes if you get acne on your body.
  • Keep your hands off your face. Don’t touch, prick or pop the acne.
  • Stay out of the sun or use a sun-protective cream while stepping out.
  • Change your pillow covers often.

Other hacks that can work for acne breakouts

  • Your toothpaste can come in handy in treating acne and removing scars. 
  • Staying hydrated and eating hydrating fruits. Watermelon, cucumber, berries and green leaves are great choices.
  • Exercise daily for clear and clean skin and always take a bath after exercise.
  • Stress is one of the main culprits of acne. Destressing can help in controlling acne.
  • Avoid spicy foods, processed and packaged meals are also bad choices for acne-prone skin.
