Ingredients for homemade Chyawanprash
- Amla – 750 gm
- Honey – 85 gm
- Sugar/Jaggery – 750 gm
- Ghee – 250 gm
- Sesame Oil – 65 gm
- Bay leaves – 5 gm
- Dry Ginger -10 gm
- Cardamom – 25 gm
- Sandalwood – 10 gm
- Dashmool – 5 gm
- Triphala – 12 gm
- Pepper – 5 gm
- Cloves – 5 gm
- Nutmeg – 5 gm
- Cinnamon – 5 gm
- Prawal bhasma – 2.5 gm
- Kesar – 2.5 gm
DIY Homemade Chyawanprash
- Wash the amla and pat them dry.
- Prick the amla and cook it in a pressure cooker with water for two whistles or 10 minutes.
- Once it cools, drain the water. Mash the amla and throw away the seeds.
- You can also put the amla in a blender to get a fine paste.
- Next, heat a pan and pour the ghee, sesame oil, and powder jaggery.
- In the meantime, grind the spices into a fine powder.
- Add the mashed Amla and cook it on low flame for about 10 minutes. Let the moisture evaporate.
- Add the mixed powdered spices to the amla and sauté for 5 more minutes.
- Next, you pour the honey and mix it all together. And then put off the stove.
- Let it cool. Transfer it into a clean glass jar.

How to Take Chyawanprash?

We are regularly having Dabar chyawanprash till two years back. But later some reports said it is not real amla. They just add amla flavour. So we stopped. I am not sure if this is true. But don’t want to take risks. Prepare at home is a real task.If really good quality is available, we should surely start having again.
