It seems the air is impregnated with magic. After all, it’s Diwali knocking at our doors. This fun festive is all about lights, crackers and some amazing mouth-watering food. But this year everything’s been a bit different. 

With the pandemic lurking like a dark cloud over our head, safety and Immunity are the only priority. That means no big parties and no outside food. And of course, no unhealthy binges that can make you weak!

But this does not mean your Diwali has to be any less than before. 

Instead of bringing home the store brought sweets and chocolates, try these 5 amazing Ayurvedic recipes for Diwali 2021. These Ayurvedic recipes are not only delicious but also super healthy and nutritious.

It will be like a tour of our ancestor’s lives. Because that’s the way they celebrated Diwali before the chocolates, sweets and packaged snacks took over!

Healthy recipes for Diwali 2023

1. Ayurvedic Laddus

Laddus are traditional Indian cookies that are not only delicious but also nutritious. They are sweet and satiating and when consumed in the right way, they won’t add bulge to your belly!

Check out these amazing Ayurvedic Laddus –

1. Roll some Ragi Laddus

Ragi Laddus are the traditional ball of sweets. They are high in protein, mineral, calcium and anti-oxidants. And they have weight-loss benefits. 

How to make Ragi Laddu?

  • Heat 1 tsp ghee and sauté 1 cup ragi on a low flame. 
  • Wait till the aroma sets in and then put it aside to cool.
  • Now Roast ½ cup peanut, ½ cup sesame seeds, ¼ cup grated coconut and 4 pieces of cardamom. 
  • Grind these ingredients and add 150 gm of jaggery powder.
  • Take a large bowl and mix all the ingredients with the fried flour.
  • Blend for 1 or 2 minutes and let the oil ooze. 
  • Make balls when the mix is still warm. If needed add melted warm ghee.
  • Store in an air-tight jar.

2. Make Museli Laddus

Museli is a famous aphrodisiac. It is the best remedy to beat weakness, low stamina, degeneration and emaciation. Museli Laddus can be your perfect Diwali sweet to relish and gift this festive season! 

How to make Museli laddu?

  • Take 10 pc cashew, 20 pc pistachio, 10 pc almond, 10 pc raisin.
  • Add one cup of muesli and rose petals.
  • Grind 250gm dates and add it to the mixture.
  • Mix all the ingredients and make small balls using ghee.

3. Try the tasty Til Laddu

This tasty treat is best to boost your immunity and curb diseases. It is also great for weight loss and delaying ageing. Til gud laddu is also a great digestion booster which can help you get through the heavy feasts of this festival. 

How to make Til Laddu?

  • Roast ½ cup white and black sesame seeds each.
  • Heat 1 cup jaggery by adding ¼ cup water.
  • Keep the flame low, stir well and let the jaggery dissolve. 
  • Turn off the flame and add roasted sesame seeds.
  • Next, add 2 tbsp peanuts, 2 tbsp cashews and ½ tsp cardamom powder.
  • Combine everything well and allow the mixture to thicken.
  • Grease your hand with little ghee and make small balls.

4. The must try Chandrashoor Laddoo 

Chandrashoor laddoos are full of nutrients. They are very helpful in reducing blood pressure and cholesterol. This laddoo is also helpful in boosting immunity and keeping the lungs healthy. 

How to make Chandrashoor Laddoo?

  • Soak 25 gm Chandrashoor in 100 gm coconut milk for 3-4 days.
  • Grind 25 gm almonds and cashew to make a fine powder.
  • Now, place a pan on the flame and add 1 tsp of ghee.
  • Let the ghee melt and then add 300 gm jaggery to it.
  • Keep the flame on low until jaggery melts.
  • Now, add soaked Chandrashoor and mix it well.
  • Next, add 100 gm grated coconut into the mixture.
  • Mix it nicely and cook until the water gets evaporated. 
  • Finally, add the fine powder of almond and cashew.
  • Sauté the mix for some time and allow it to cool before making laddoos. 

2. Ginger Amla Barfi Recipe 

A treat that’s tasty and healthy, Ginger and amla are both super nutritious. They are often known for their weight loss benefits. It’s low in calories and packed with the richness of Vitamin C and minerals. This amazing delicacy helps in increasing immunity and improving digestion. 

How to make Ginger Amla Barfi Recipe?

  • Boil 250 gm berries and grind it to make a paste.
  • Peel 50 gm ginger and boil it too.
  • Grind the berries and ginger to make a thick paste.
  • Add 300 gm sugar and water to make a sticky syrup.
  • And add it to the boiled ginger and berries paste.
  • Blend it with ¾ cup of ghee to the mix.
  • Next, add ½ all-purpose flour, 1 tsp cornflour, 1 tsp cinnamon powder. 
  • Mix it thoroughly until the ghee comes out.
  • Take into another plate and let it cool. 
  • Cut into pieces and serve.

3. Badam Halwa Recipe 

This is made with the rich and delicious almond. Almond is very good for the brain. It also helps in strengthening muscles and promoting digestion. This looks amazing and makes a great gift for Diwali.

How To Make Badam Halwa?

  • Soak ½ cup almonds for 3-4 hours. 
  • Peel the skin and grind it with 1/4 cup milk to a smooth paste.
  • In a heavy-bottomed pan, make a sugar syrup by boiling sugar and water. 
  • Add the almond paste and mix well to avoid lumps.
  • Pour the condensed milk and add saffron and elaichi.
  • Keep stirring for a few minutes.
  • Add a tsp ghee in regular intervals and keep stirring.
  • Pour the contents in a greased plate and let it cool down.

4. Roasted Sesame Recipe

This is one tasty sweet with a bundle of health benefits. Sesame is good for your skin and hair. It also aids in weight loss, digestion, brainpower and memory.

How To Make Roasted Sesame?

  • Roast 100 gm sesame seeds on low fire till they become a little brown.
  • Once they turn brown, take it off the fire and let it cool. 
  • Now, grind these seeds into a coarse powder.
  • Add powdered raw sugar or jaggery and mix well.
  • And your roasted sesame snack is ready!

5. Amla Murabba

No one can resist a Murabba! Amla Murabba is another amazing delicacy that you can make at home for this Diwali. Amla is rich in vitamin C and helps boost immunity, which is the need of hour amidst this pandemic.

How to make Amla Murabba?

  • Wash the 500 gm amlas thoroughly.
  • Boil the amlas for 10 minutes and drain the water.
  • Take 3 cups of water and add 500 gm of sugar. Boil it to make a sugar syrup.
  • Add the amlas to this syrup and cook it for another 40 minutes on low flame. 
  • Cook until the amlas become soft. 
  • Take it off the heat and allow it to cool.
  • Keep it untouched for 2 days in a cool covered jar.
  • After 2 days, drain the amla from the sugar syrup.
  • Boil this syrup with cardamom powder and saffron till the syrup thickens.
  • Add the amlas to this syrup and simmer it for another 3-4 minutes. 
  • Allow this mix to cool completely.
