We are no stranger to anger. Grinding our teeth, clenching our fist and holding back a fume of rage, we all have endured that. But do you know anger have disastrous effects on your body. More than anything anger affects your heart.
Getting irritated at someone is natural. But are that uncle screaming on the phone. The mother in the mall shouting at her boisterous child. A teenager throwing away things? Do you get possessed by the uncontrolled urge of anger?
Then you should be cautious.
Anger has long been linked to Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD). The ‘blood boiling’ anger actually leads to vigorous blood-pumping in our heart. This might lead to conditions like palpitation and in worse case even a stroke or heart attack.
However, it is interesting to note that moderate outbursts are not much of a trouble. In fact, people who tend to suppress their anger are prone to Coronary Heart disease (CHD). Thus, suppressing anger is not a good precaution of avoiding heart conditions.

Anger affects your heart
Anger is a normal emotion. And we all experience it to some extent. But it’s the reaction that can raise your heart risks. Explosive and erratic behaviour due to anger can steer heart conditions, like Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), and may even lead to a heart attack.
When anger is stimulated, a sudden rush in the blood vessels takes place due to the fast pumping of blood in the heart which is to be carried to the brain. But this excessive pressure in the blood vessels results in soaring blood pressure, excessive fast beating of heart or palpitation, sweating, and feeling of breathlessness.
Researchers found that healthy people who are often angry are 19% more likely to get heart disease. Not just this, anger can also ruin personal relationships which may lead to depression, alcoholism, erratic reactions, and violence. These negative emotions further elevate the risk of heart diseases.

Researchers found that anger outbursts can trigger a heart attack within two hours in some people. A person’s risk of a heart attack increases nearly fivefold and the risk of stroke increases more than threefold during an outrageous interaction.
