Who does not know about the golden spice? It is the king of healthy compounds, a healer of pain, a fighter of cancer, and the protector of the heart. My wife uses Haldi to keep me healthy. And in this blog, I will reveal 8 ways to add Turmeric to your daily diet!

But first, if you don’t already know, here’s a quick brush-up on the benefits of turmeric!

Benefits of turmeric

The anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric are a well-known thing. But what many don’t know is that it can decrease the risk of cancer, support detoxification, and regulate blood sugar levels Turmeric further aids in digestion, boosts kidney function, positively impacts cholesterol levels, helps in weight loss, and combat the effects of arthritis. 

Several studies have proven the anti-inflammatory effects of curcumin. However new research keeps delving deep into the different aspects of this golden spice. Research validated the old folk practice of using turmeric to relieve gas and bloating.

Not just that, turmeric has been found to improve symptoms of liver function and boost the immune system. One study stated that curcumin is as effective as exercise in boosting endothelium function while another study says that it works as well as a commonly prescribed drug.

With this secret ingredient in my meals, I am not just keeping the diseases at bay, but it also helps in combating stress and fatigue. It has helped in building a strong immunity in our growing child and has done several wonders in keeping me healthy from head to toe.

How much turmeric should you take every day?

To reap the benefits, we need to add 500 to 1000 mg of curcuminoids every day. But can we drown our sambar, dal, sabji, or rice in turmeric? No right! So, here are some amazing ways my wife uses to add turmeric to our daily diet.

8 Ways to add Turmeric to your daily diet

1. Warm Lemon water

I have been drinking a glass of warm lemon water since my college days but it was my wife who added a pinch of haldi. And it indeed doubled up the benefits filled in that glass.

2. Turmeric tonic

A superb punch of healthy nutrients comes in a glass of turmeric tonic. My wife prepares this with ginger, haldi, coconut water, orange, carrot, honey and pepper. This anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant tonic is just a blessing for the body.

3. Golden milk

From day one after marriage till today, I never went to bed without my glass of golden milk. Prepared artistically, my wife adds grounded almonds, saffron or cinnamon, ginger, and haldi to a glass of warm milk.  Golden milk offers oodles of benefits from soothing arthritis pain to lowering blood sugar and combating cancer.

4. The golden-hued salad

A delicious plate of salad or a luscious platter of boiled apple with a pinch of cinnamon and haldi is our way of relishing a meal!

5. Vegetable Stew

Healthy steamed cauliflower, green beans, and onions with a bit of spice and a pinch of haldi is a staple for diet for our dinner. Whenever I get bored she makes an awesome boiled mix of raw cauliflower, celery, sweet pepper and broccoli florets with turmeric and added spice.

6. Turmeric & Ginger Iced Tea

A refreshing drink to support your heart, boost your brain, and pamper every cell in your body. This simple recipe of haldi and ginger is an elixir the body craves for.

7. Juice with a pinch of turmeric

It’s super simple to add turmeric to your juices or blended drinks. For best results, my wife brings the fresh organic haldi roots and adds them to the blender. It not only enhances the taste of the juice but offers amazing benefits to the body.

8. Black Pepper and Turmeric Tea

This spicy tea contains cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, turmeric, raw honey, and coconut milk along with black pepper. Studies have found that the piperine in black pepper increases curcumin bioavailability by 2000%.

These are different ways my wife has mastered to keep me fit and healthy. You can try several creative combinations and enjoy the healthy benefits of this yellow root. A little bit of yellow keeps your health mellow!

Our ancestors seers found out great things including Haldi. We should be greatful to our seers scientists as well as our great culture.
