As the juice contains several vitamins like vitamin C and immune-boosting nutrients like vitamin E, pomegranate juice can fight off infections and prevent diseases. The fruit is known to be antibacterial and antiviral in lab tests. So it is being studied for their effects on common infections and viruses.

Prevents atherosclerosis

Due to our modern style of living, the walls of our arteries become harder due to cholesterol, leading to blockages. The antioxidant property of pomegranate helps prevent bad cholesterol from oxidizing. So, pomegranate juice helps remove the excess fat and prevents the hardening of the artery walls.

Traditionally pomegranate juice was consumed to prevent diabetes. While the fruit is still being studied to know the effects of pomegranate on diabetes, it is known to help decrease insulin resistance and lower blood sugar.

Prevents cancer

  A study found that pomegranate juice can help stop the growth of prostate cancer cells. However, the results are still preliminary to come to a definite conclusion. Pomegranate is also said to be useful against breast cancer.  Pomegranate juice may inhibit the reproduction of breast cancer cells, even known to kill some of them. However, the evidence is still limited to laboratory studies, hence more research is required before any such claims can be made.

The high concentration of antioxidants in the juice helps it to prevent the progress of Alzheimer’s disease and protect our memory.

In a study, the subjects with memory problems were given 230 ml of pomegranate juice every day. After a certain period of time, a lot of improvement was seen in the verbal and visual memory of these people.
