Introducing the “Weekend Couple”: The New Urban Relationship Status and How to Make it Work

Weekend Couple is the new-gen relationship status.

There ain’t time to talk and care, because you are clouded by fear. No time to laugh and love, because time is ticking on your nerve. There ain’t time to sit and share, because you are busy building castles in the air!”

This is the truth about modern-day love, breakups, and hookups. Life became so fast-paced that we often let go of the hand that seems to hold us back. Even marriages go through a rough patch because of this lifestyle.

Couples often walk different ways for their career. And finding that sweet spot to connect and kindle just becomes tougher. Especially with the responsibilities crawling over your head all the time.

The real-life weekend Couple!

Shweta and Abhimanyu are one such sweet couple whose romance faded away with time. Both are working in busy corporate jobs as software engineers, one works in Whitefield, and the other in Electronic city. Their life is fast-paced, engrossed with the responsibilities of work and children.

The morning starts with a war cry. Hustling and rustling through the books, tiffin, cooking, packing. The children get ready for school and the couple for another day of slogging! They leave at 8 and come back at 8 just like the hands of their clock!

The day does not end there. Then comes their children’s homework, studies, projects, dinner, TV, and finally sleep. That’s not the ideal picturization of marriage! No spark, no romance, no thrill only the drill!

The couple came to me and asked for a suggestion to bring back the spice in their married life. Shweta said, “Doctor, we literally talk to each other only on weekends, and that too we feel so tired and exhausted that we both want just some peaceful time on the weekend. We watch a pointless TV show to kill boredom. We are still young but our life has come to a standstill. Sir, is there a way to kindle our romance on the weekends?”

“Weekend couple” is a new urban trend where couples live like strangers on the weekdays and get together on weekends to spend a honeymoon period. It’s the new secret of keeping the romance alive. The weekends serve as a reward for the week’s hard work. This also gives a new kind of zeal and something to look forward to every week!

How can you make modern relationships work?

1. Trust like a rock

Trust is the first pillar of a relationship and so is loyalty! Work on building up trust with proper communication and openness. There should be space for both to talk freely about anything without the fear of being judged or rejected.

2. Talk a lot

Communication is very important. Don’t waste time beating around the bush with topics of politics and gossip when you have an elephant in the room to address, which means bigger issues to talk about! Talk about your future, finances, goals, and other things that hold value for you. Practice gratitude, appreciation, and healthy conversation.

3. Splurge a little

Going out shopping together is considered healthy couple therapy. Go out, get the good stuff, grab some discounts, and flaunt the new stylish look that makes you happy.

4. Dine and Wine

Go out for dinners, it’s relaxing, soothing, and gives you the time to wind off. What about the extra costs? Trust me, this investment is worth it! Anyway, if you are putting off the big things for the future then why not live the small stuff now?

5. A lot of fun

One thing that can never go wrong is sex. It’s relaxing, meditating, thrilling and pleasurable. A study says, “Sex may be key to a happy marriage”. Keeping the intimacy intact is very important to keep the fire on.

6. Give a relaxing massage

If there is one thing that can beat sex in terms of pleasure then it has to be a soothing and relaxing massage. A study says, “Couples Who Massage Each Other Have Stronger Relationships”.

7. Go out

Visit a friend, or relative, watch a movie, plan a road trip or go for a vacation together. Getting a change is very important, so grab your best dress and go on a spin!

8. Skip the chores

Let things be the way they are! Don’t stress over cleaning the house or arranging the closets when you truly are craving a long drive, a movie date, or a night out. Make the best of your time and the rest will automatically fall in place.

9. Share a passion

Be it photography, cooking, adventurous sports, or fitness, involve your partner to share your passion and you can do what you love together. This is a great way of spending quality time together and strengthening the bond deeper.

10. Put the phone away

For that matter, all gadgets are away! Mobile, TV, laptop, or tablet are all-time killers. They eat away most of your time making you run behind the clock. So, put all the gadgets away and take the time to appreciate the company of your partner.

11. Build up the tempo

Send romantic texts, build up the excitement, and do all the mushy things for the week, so when the weekend arrives your heart is already racing thinking about all the things that you have planned for.

12. Try something new

Embrace the madness of randomness. Life never happens according to a plan so be ready to embrace all the randomness. Laugh at the silliness rather than losing your cool.

Last but most important is to remember the trinity – admiration, mutual respect, and the absence of co-dependence. Even in this fast-paced mechanical life, it is possible to keep up the heart beating. Weekend Couples can have a fulfilling relationship.

Ayurvedic doctor’s suggestions to  weekend couples

As an Ayurvedic doctor, I strongly believe that taking time to connect with your partner is an important aspect of overall wellness. Spending a weekend together as a couple can be an excellent way to recharge your batteries, reduce stress, and strengthen your relationship.

One of the key principles of Ayurveda is balance, and spending time together as a couple can be a great way to achieve this balance. When we’re busy with work, family, and other obligations, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. However, taking time away from our daily routine can help us to reset and recharge.

Studies have shown that spending time together as a couple can have several positive effects on our health and well-being. For example, a study published in the Journal of Marriage and Family found that couples who take vacations together report higher levels of satisfaction with their relationship and overall life.

Another study published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships found that couples who engage in novel and exciting activities together report higher levels of relationship quality.

So, what can you do to make the most of your weekend together as a couple? Here are a few Ayurvedic-inspired tips:

  1. Disconnecting from technology: In our modern world, we’re often tethered to our devices. However, taking a break from technology can help us to be more present at the moment and connect more deeply with our partners. Try turning off your phones and other devices for a few hours or even a whole day.
  2. Connect with nature: Spending time in nature can be a powerful way to reduce stress and reconnect with our true selves. Go for a hike, visit a nearby park, or simply spend time in your backyard.
  3. Practice mindfulness: Mindfulness is the practice of being present in the moment without judgment. By practicing mindfulness together, you can deepen your connection and reduce stress. Try a guided meditation or simply spend time in silence together.
  4. Practice self-care: Taking care of ourselves is an important part of taking care of our relationship. Take some time to pamper yourselves with a massage, yoga class, or other self-care activity.

In conclusion, spending a weekend together as a couple can be an excellent way to recharge your batteries, reduce stress, and strengthen your relationship. By disconnecting from technology, connecting with nature, practicing mindfulness, eating nourishing foods, and practicing self-care, you can deepen your connection and create lasting memories together. Remember, the key is to be present in the moment and to prioritize your relationship above all else.

Manganese is similar to iron in its chemical and also physical properties, however it is harder as well as much more breakable. Manganese is possibly one of the most flexible component that can be included in copper alloys.
